DFT SAL (OFFSHORE) “Iraq”– VISIT REPORT Date : 26-1-2009 Prepared by : Ziad ghanem C.C : MH/ KH / SF / GN Day 2 ( Thursday 8th ) FIELD DAY WITH FERHANG BOULOS IN ERBIL & FOLLOW UP OF CROPAID TRIALS As usual, I & ferhang we did a field day in Erbil as to assess Cold injuries on existing crops; most critical injuries were found on Cucumbers & eggplants mainly for outdoor crops & non heated GH @ <-6 oC: total loss of green foliage of eggplant, total loss of cucumbers, growth retardant, less fruit setting & yellowing of tomato.

Than we checked out CropAid trials on tomato & strawberries; results are promising on both crops: - application @ the rate of 500cc/100 L , 2 days before frost on tomato shows very good results in terms of cold resistance, growing up, flowering & fruit deformation “Border line in below picture is not treated.
